As stated in the TIEC Guide for Residents, residents who wish to extend their permitted period of residence are required to contact the person in charge at their university or institution at least two months before the expiration date of their current permitted period.
Extension procedures:
In the event of extending the permitted period of residence, you have to contact the person in charge of the university or institution to which you belong at least two months before the expiration date of the permitted period of residence.
We are not in a position to say whether an extension will still be approved. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you consult your university as soon as possible to discuss your options.

TIEC居住者ガイドに記載の通り、許可された在留期間の延長を希望する居住者は、現在の許可期間満了日の少なくとも2ヶ月前までに、所属大学または機関の担当者に連絡する必要があります。
延長手続き：
許可された在留期間を延長する場合、在留許可期間満了日の少なくとも2ヶ月前までに、所属する大学または機関の担当者に連絡しなければなりません。
